HSE and sustainability

We are committed to ensuring the heath and safety of all who work with us and to protect the environment in which we work. We are committed to achieving excellent health and safety standards, to reduce accidents and ill health within the workplace and to minimise the impact of our operations on the environment. We insist that all contractors should maintain the same high standards. We liaise closely with government departments, partners and other interest groups to comply with local laws and regulations and to minimise any disruption to the environment. The Company has in place an HSEQ Management System supported by a set of HSEQ Minimum Performance Standards.
We work to the highest ethical standards and be transparent in our dealings with national, regional and local authorities, with our partners and in our dealings with suppliers and contractors who work with us. All business transactions are conducted openly and appropriate records maintained to demonstrate this. We aim to show fairness in our treatment of all organisations who supply us with goods or services and encourage fair and open competition while seeking value for money. The acceptance of bribes in any form is totally unacceptable. We will also avoid situations where private interests conflict with the Group business or objectives.
We will show respect for people including our own staff, our neighbours, our partners and suppliers and contractors and will not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity or gender. We are an equal rights employer and are committed to providing a working environment where all people have equal opportunities for employment and advancement based on their ability, professional qualifications and experience. To this end, the Group gives full consideration to applications for employment from people regardless of age, colour, disability, ethnic origin, marital status, nationality, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
We have respect for human dignity and the rights of the individual. We support the principles of, and promote respect for, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We seek to continuously improve the ways in which we contribute directly or indirectly to the economy and well being of the communities where we work. Understanding and respecting local communities are essential to ensure the Company’s continued presence in the locations where we operate. We aim to minimise the impact we have on those communities whilst seeking ways to enhance them through employment, access to local natural resources and through local support initiatives. We maintain a continual dialogue with local communities and authorities through our in country staff and our senior management when visiting our operational locations. Given the international nature of our business, we aim to recruit, train and promote from within the country of operation as far as possible.
